Orchestra piece No. 3 Echoing Colorful Clouds and Mystic Footprints of India

Program Notes

The A section of Echoing Colorful Clouds and Mystic Footprints of India has 6 main intervals where each time the intervals are repeated the instruments change and then each one is echoed, first by 3 echoes, the echoes increasing in gradual increments where each set of echoes is a different color with different instrumentation, never repeating its combination. This orchestration is reminiscent of Pointillism in the mixing of color spots into a fuller range of tones with the potential of taking in the full spectrum.

The B section has 4 main rhythm lines coming from traditional dance rhythm of India. The orchestration design is similiar to Ravel’s Boléro with the addition of instruments every time the rhythm lines repeat, increasing in the color thickness with variation in the middle. The rhythm of the second half of B section tries to insert some beats in the regular rhythm making the rhythm unbalanced. This is after the manner of the traditional rhythm of the India drum, and after the rhythm thought of Olivier Messiaen.

The coda returns back to the beginning of A section and the whole piece ends with the echoes dissapearing into the clouds.
